Teresa | Maternity Session | Old Stone Church

I don’t normally blog maternity sessions, but I couldn’t help myself with this one. There’s a few things that make this shoot special to me. One, this location hosted my very first engagement session that I did on my own, about 5 years ago. It was nostalgic to go back to a place that kickstarted my career as a wedding photographer! And cool to see how much I’ve grown and how much my style has changed since then. Two, THIS IS MY SISTER. Teresa is the one who invited me to live with her for a summer and check out the photography scene here in Boston. She was the one who connected me to my first internship, who let me pay cheap rent for my first year in her spare bedroom, who brought a bottle of Malbec over when I was miserable and lovesick over Mike before we were dating, and who I continue to look up to for life and marriage advice.

This session was special for a third reason. We had planned a maternity shoot for Teresa’s first pregnancy two years ago, but never got around to it because our mom was in the ICU, and baby Chloe surprised us all by showing up three weeks early! This child was the ray of sunshine our family needed, bringing joy and light into a time when we were preparing for the worst with my mom. And you know what? Our mom is still here, has been off chemo for over a year, and is able to be involved and present with preparing for the arrival of this grandbaby. This session is a celebration of LIFE, of growth, and of the grace of God.

Teresa, you are stunning. It’s been really cool to see how motherhood has transformed you, and how you’ve been able to fully embrace all the changes with such grace. You have always been the leader; tough, decisive, and hard-working…and it’s been amazing to watch these attributes mix with compassion and confidence in the woman you were designed to be. You are proof that you can be fierce and kind at the same time. Motherhood looks good on you <3
