Our Wedding | Part Two | The Fontainebleau Inn

I walked down the aisle on October 15th, with the sun at my back, and my future in front of me. Tears streamed down my face, from happiness and relief, for all the prayers and waiting, for all the hard and joyful moments leading up to this one. But mostly I cried from the sheer gravity of what I was walking towards. It's a pretty weighty thing to stand in front of 130 witnesses and declare that from this day forward I will be faithful to another broken human being, til death do us part. What a mystery marriage is. Two people show up, say a few words, and 20 short minutes later, the two are one. It's a solemn vow before God to stick it out. Forever. And that's what we did.

Before the ceremony we did a first look, and I’m so glad we decided to do that. It’s such a special moment, and these photos are probably my favorites from the whole day! It was like a big breath in, just spending ten minutes together, before diving into the rush and excitement of the rest of the day. Another benefit is that we got all our family and bridal party photos done early which is a win in my book. The weather forecast said it would rain all day for the two weeks leading up to our wedding, and then it was 75 degrees and sunny! It was like a wedding gift from Jesus. Our ceremony was short, but so powerful and filled with tears and love. We wrote our own vows, had our parents pray over us while Brittney sang “Ever Be,” and danced back down the isle to Hall + Oates. My four sisters, Mike’s brother, and five of our closest friends comprised our bridal party, plus my ADORABLE nieces and nephew (not biased at all).

I know that the last time I blogged our wedding was A YEAR AGO, so I’m sorry for the ridiculously long wait! But now I’m all caught up on client work so I’ll have one more post coming at you of our reception. If nothing else, this is for US to remember our day and have all our photos in one (okay, three) place(s). You can see part one, our getting ready, here.

XO, Abigail
