Helen+Steve | In-Home Engagement | Connecticut Wedding Photographer

I’m seriously digging in-home sessions. Last week I got to hang out all afternoon with Helen + Steve at their adorable apartment outside of Hartford, CT. Along with being a physician (nbd), Helen is an amazing baker! So of course cake had to be a part of the shoot. It was so fun watching them in their natural environment: Helen whipping up a delicious Earl Grey Chocolate Cake, and Steve taste-testing, cracking jokes, and and washing dishes beside her. She bakes, and he oversees all the greenery growing in their house - which, there was a lot of! I’m always impressed by people who can keep plants alive, because I am not one of them, haha. Their cats, Michelangelo and Donatello, made guest appearances as well :)

Helen + Steve met online two years after working in the same exact building. Steve had already moved back to New Jersey at that point, and they laugh now thinking of all the times they probably walked right past each other without even knowing! Helen was in her residency, and Steve was in grad school studying neuroscience at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, literally in the same building. On her profile Helen had written, “I am liable to give you diabetes,” so of course Steve knew she was the one. These two complement each other so well. Helen is sweet and laid back, and Steve is expressive and loves embarrassing her in public (lovingly of course)! I absolutely love getting to know my couples before shooting their wedding, and these guys are GEMS. If anyone wants to immediately be my best friend, make me a delicious cake during our shoot ;)

I’m seriously so grateful for being invited into Helen + Steve’s home, and felt apart of their story by the time I left. Thank you guys soooo much for choosing me to be your photographer. I cannot WAIT for your wedding this fall!
