Scituate Beach Elopement | Abigail Jean Photography

Jesse and Laura said their “I do’s” on the shores of Scituate, MA with the wind and waves (and a few seagulls) as witnesses. Their big wedding out west had gotten cancelled due to the current health crisis sweeping the globe, but when we met up over FaceTime to discuss their elopement details, they sounded anything but bummed. “We’re planning a romantic beach wedding,” Jesse told me, and then went on to explain how they were still going to do their first dance, have live guitar music as Laura walked down the isle, and that they wanted to run into the ocean at the end. I was so impressed with how they had taken something that I’m sure started as a huge disappointment, and decided to create something so beautiful out of it.

They chose a beach in Scituate because Laura grew up going there. In fact, both Jesse and her have matching tattoos that say “143”, as that’s what the Minot Light would flash out to ships to say “I love you,” from those still on shore (you can see the lighthouse in the background of some of their photos!). Laura was able to get ready in her grandmother’s cottage, and she had her best-pup, Munch, there to help her. Jesse sported custom arrow cuff-links, as that’s what they used to draw each other before they said verbal, “I love you’s”. It was so special to see parts of their past woven into the beginning of their future.

Jesse’s brother serenaded Laura down the isle on his guitar, officiated, DJ’d their first dance, AND had cameras set up for video. He was a one-man band! Jesse and Laura threw themselves into the day, full of joy and gratitude in becoming husband and wife. Like for real, the amount of laughter was contagious! Oh yes, and they ran into the ocean at the very end to put a cap on it. It was FREEZING, but I think they were too happy to notice.
