Mariana + Chris met me in Beacon Hill last Thursday afternoon, right after getting married at Boston City Hall. Mariana had reached out to me a month ago to talk about their plans to elope in May, and it was so cool to meet them in person finally! We wandered around Beacon Hill, popped champagne (they brought an extra glass for me, so we’re bffs now), grabbed dessert at Tatte Bakery, and then finished in the Boston Public Garden with the perfect sunset. With rain happening all week, we really lucked out on some glorious spring weather!
Mariana met Chris in an elevator while they were both working in the same lab space here in Boston. According to Chris, he tried to befriend her because she looked stressed out, but she blew him off. A few days later she started noticing him back and invited him out. They dated long distance for four years, as they both were pursuing their medical degrees in different countries; Chris in Boston and Mariana in Brazil. Last year he asked her to marry him while they were on a trip to Paris, and last week they were finally united. And I got to be there!! I seriously have the best job in the world.
The ring Chris used to propose once belonged to his grandmother, and Mariana had her dress custom made back in Brazil. Mariana’s mom and Chris’ brother were actually with us the whole time, which was so awesome. A big thank you to them for carrying around all the bags while we wandered around taking photos! It was so cool to see how important family is to them, and how they still incorporated theirs into their elopement. I am soooo happy for these two as they finally get to start their life together!
