Anne Marie+Denis | Boston Harbor Engagement | Boston Wedding Photographer
Denis & Anne Marie met… well, where else in 2016 than the internet? #bumble. After some impromptu, last-minute planning, they had their first date over drinks at Local 149 in Southie. There was an instant connection (or maybe it was the 6 glasses of rosé Anne Marie had had…), especially as they learned how many close, mutual friends they shared – the whole “meeting a stranger” did not seem so strange to them anymore. Knowing that they both loved being out on the water, Denis proposed their second date be out on his boat with a cruise around Boston Harbor. A boat? Anne Marie was sold. From there, their relationship only continued to grow, moving in together a year later. They describe their relationship as effortless, each other’s best friend, and favorite snuggle buddy.
Little shy of 2 years of dating, Denis wanted to propose on Easter morning where he and Anne Marie’s families would be spending the holiday together. That weekend they were babysitting Anne Marie’s best friend’s dog, Bella, and 1 year old son, Finn. Denis admits the night before, when he knew he was going to propose the next day, he was looking around, seeing his future: out living in the burbs in Milton, cuddled up on the couch with Finn watching Elmo, with their Golden Retriever at their feet. When Anne Marie asked Denis to run upstairs to grab a pacifier for the baby (at 6:30am), Denis saw it as his perfect moment to retrieve his surprise. He walked downstairs carrying more than just a binky! He went on to tell Anne Marie how much he loved her and presented her with a ring – but not the actual engagement ring, a fake one. To his dismay, Anne Marie did not give any negative reaction at all, and instantly started crying happy tears. She just kept saying, “what is this??” Denis asked her what day it was and the significance of the date – April 1, April Fools’ Day – and quickly got down on one knee, holding up a pink Easter egg with the actual engagement ring inside. They’re still not sure who the joke was on ;)
It only seemed fitting to have their engagement shoot back on the water in their happy place - out on the “My Way” - with a cruise around the harbor. Following their love of all things salty, they’re set to get married down in the Cape, June 2019.
