Sydney+Eric | Beacon Hill Anniversary
Sydney and Eric wanted to capture their time in Boston before making the move to Dallas, TX this month. I was thrilled when Sydney reached out with the idea of visiting all their favorite places, including Tatte Bakery, Acorn Street, and the streets of Boston! I asked Sydney to write up their story:
Eric and I are definitely that typical "yin and yang" couple. He’s the practical one, and I’m the dreamer. I’m usually the one that’s like, "let’s travel here, or sign up for this!" and he’s the one that reminds me of our long-term goals and what we can realistically accomplish. I’d say we balance each other out pretty great.
We are high school sweethearts. We have lived apart the majority of our relationship, until we got married, because we went to different colleges. I went to Spring Hill in Alabama, and Eric went to school at Baylor in Texas. After high school, I studied abroad in Italy. Eric did plenty of internships and rotations with GE all over the country; Texas, upstate NY, and South Carolina. We didn’t actually live in the same zip code again until after our honeymoon when we moved into a tiny 450 sq. ft. studio apartment! Our families thought we were nuts, but we were just so excited to be together again. It was a steep learning curve going from long distance to living in such close quarters, but we wouldn’t have changed a thing. We have since moved up to bigger apartments, and are excited about the house search in Dallas!
Boston was the coolest adventure, and a continuation of learning what makes our marriage work and how to communicate effectively. We are so thankful for the the opportunity to step outside of our comfort zones, and take big risks. Marriage is the coolest, never ending sleepover, but it also takes effort, patience, and a whole lotta compromise. I’ll always be thankful for this time we spent just learning and loving, and dreaming up plans for the future.
