Kristen+Alex | Boston Harbor Anniversary | New England Photographer

I met Kristen and Alex down by the Boston harbor for their anniversary session. We grabbed drinks at Tia's by the waterfront and I got to know a bit of their story before we started the shoot. I love doing this with my couples! Building connection, even before the shoot, helps everything run so naturally during our time together. I had so much fun with them, first on the docks, and then up on my favorite rooftop for a view of the city! Kristen wrote up their story below:

Study abroad isn’t the best time or place to look for the person you are going to spend the rest of your life with, so I thought. Alex and I’s love story began in 2012, when he and I were working together for a study abroad company. We had interacted a few times in the years past, but something was different that summer, and little did we know we would end up spending the rest of our lives together.

Starting the relationship was the easy part, making it work from two different countries, on opposite sides of the world was the real challenge. The first year or so consisted of long distance flights, credit card debt (to pay for the flights), lots of smiles and lots of tears. It was a true testament to our love and our commitment to make it work. In 2014, Alex and I married in a small courthouse in Henley on Thames, packed up our lives in the UK and moved to our new home in Boston, Massachusetts.

I think Alex would agree with me when I say, marriage is not easy by any means. It is filled with challenges and arguments, but those struggles are intermixed with laughter, joy and adventures. I feel extremely blessed to have found love at such a young age. I couldn’t think of a better person than Alex to be a witness to my life and I know he feels the same way.
